Peer response can be found in any activity, work, or in this case sport. Pee response is the interaction that gives feedback between peers whether it be to revise writing in forms of grammar or content. For athletes, specifically soccer players they work with peer response during their practices and games. I decided to present this idea through a public document which they are familiar with, i chose a game play board strategy. This form of document they use before every game, which makes them familiar to this type of learning form. By presenting the idea of peer response in a game play, they will hopefully find it much easier and simple to understand what peer response is, and that they do work in such way wether they realize it or not.
Athletes are my audience in this project, specifically soccer players. I am trying to incorporate the idea of peer response into a game play to clearly represent how peer response works and what are the benefits to these athletes. I am doing a board game strategy that shows how peer response works to these athletes. Connecting peer response through a game play which they are familiar with, gives a way to connect. These athletes are mainly 17-30 year old males. Soccer players are all about speed, technique, endurance, agility, mentality, dedication, and a good team player. All these characteristics can be found through out the fields of soccer players. Coordination and team work are two of the main contributions a player can give to their team. The most important thing they value is each other. This can be to win games and succeed, they depend on each other. In order for a team to be strong, each player must have a relaxed mind that is at ease, that way they can each focus on their own tasks which leads to team work. Soccer players value their coach, this is another part of their team. Probably the most important factor in their whole field. The coach acts as the leader, or a teacher in academic terms. They also value the more obvious, like a good turf, fair referee, soccer balls, nice climate, and a crowd to cheer them on.
I will be creating a game play deign that encompasses the strategy of peer response. Being that my audience are soccer athletes, this will be a great way to familiarize them to the idea of peer response. A game play design is for any time of sport, specially field sports. This gives the players different kinds of “plays” that the coach works on. This is done to help better give an idea to the players once they go out on the field to beat their opponent. A game play design is usually done on a erase board. This must be quick and easy and straight to the point. Quick editing is a big part of the process of a game play. Coming up with strategies and revising them is what a board is all about when it comes to a game play for sports. This is done by the coaches, it is mainly done to reassure the players of what exactly is going on and what to do once they get on the field. This is away for the coaches to clearly and visually get their ideas into the minds of his team players. This presents its purpose visually. Presenting the coaches ideas visually helps the reader, in this case the players fully understand what it is exactly the coaches want out of them. A game play should be minimal and quick. All you need is a dry erase board and a black marker, and of course plenty of brilliant ideas.
My idea of peer response messaged through a game strategy is the way i want to introduce this idea to soccer athletes. The way they work with each other is the way they use peer response. They use it everyday whether it is during practice or a game. When they practice, they become better just like peer response. When one is corrected, writing becomes better. It is by feedback the way we grow and try to achieve a better writing skill. My public document is a game play. It is something that my audience, soccer players can read easily. This translates my idea to them by showing something familiar. I have a field with soccer players in it. There are arrows that show the interaction between them, these arrows are the peer response. By the team work they do, they become better and give each other feedback. Each team member is important, as well as the coaches. That is why i specifically put the coaches outside of the field. This gives a meaning for the coach as a facilitator. The coaches represents the teachers. They are always there to help, yet leave the players to lead the game, just like the role of teachers is peer response is. All is colored coded to give an easier and quicker feel, just like game plays. I have the interaction of these athletes shown with arrows, this describes my message of peer response. Without no interaction, the players would be lost and disoriented. This is why peer response is beneficial to them. It is a simple concept that many people don’t realize they do just like athletes. If there was no interaction between the players in the field, nothing would get done. Peer response works the same way in a classroom. It is beneficial for everyone, by proof reading, or giving new ideas to peers writing, it gives new ideas and new ideas always give writing a more thoughtful and interesting views, which in the end makes a good paper.
I believe that this form of presenting peer response is beneficial to these athletes, this can be simply put up in a locker room and observed by them. By taking into consideration what it is they do and how they learn, in this case visually and through a game play; they are able to clearly comprehend the idea of peer response.
