Proposal
In my proposal the principal idea is how studenst get involbe with their theachers and classmates to have a better relatinship with reading and writing, I wanna focuse on this because this is a reason why students read things, because they like them, and there showld be some strategies that students use to help them with their homework, specialy in reading and writing.
PROPOSAL
Did my reading and writing experience affect my students when I was teaching first grade?
I was in turn affected by the literature I had to read when teaching and what other else I like to read when I was at my job. I imparted to them the impact that reading and writing had in my life. I was also the one responsible to teaching them how to read and write. Through the lit. I absorb through my years in school I was able instill in my students their curiosity and desire to read and write. They felt motivated when reading and writing because since I gave it a major importance they knew they would had a reward when they succeed in either of them.

reading an writting has to catch your attention in order to learn better.
For example sports catches my attention in every way, say if r&w were that easy i beleive learning would be easy.
R&W have alot in common with sports, such as basetbal for example. As a basketball player you read defense an defenders. Writting has elements just as if basketball has there own elemtents.

Proposal
How does reading something your interested in help you improve your reading skills?
It helps because it gets you reading and if it really interests you it will draw you in making you want to continue reading. The more you read the better your reading skills will get and your vocabulary will grow as well. It doesn't really matter what you read as long as it gets your attention and makes you read.
* For instance i hate to read unless it is science fiction. In middle school i would never read until i found books called "Halo". In sixth grade i was reading at 12th grade level because i enjoyed reading these books. I would stay up all night because I would get so into the book I didn't want to put it down, I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. But if someone tried to make me read a book about romance, politics, or history i wouldn't be drawn to it and wouldn't want to read it. I would actually fall asleep reading a couple pages.
1) How are you creating it?
* I created it by using my own experiences with reading. Knowing what will help me to improve my reading skills.
2) For whom your creating it?
* Im creating it for people that think reading is boring and find no purpose in it.
3) How it works to get your message across?
* To inform people that even if your a bad reader, reading things you enjoy is still better than reading nothing and eventually you will start to notice that your vocabulary and reading skills will be improving. You'll be able to read more and more sophisticated books as you progress.

Revised Proposal
Question- Are standardized test a valid for for measuring how good a writer is, or does thoughtful good writing come from
inspiration?
-good writing for me does come from inspiration, when i am asked to write on a topic that does not interst me or does not
matter to me my writing usually reflects that. Without inspiration, a writer lacks the thoughtful and interesting connections
that are made from experience into the writing and reading universe.
Example: Writing prompt example- Write about the person who you look up to the most.
- If given the above prompt a good writer can draw inspiration from the things they like, read, and personal experiences
and pull them into the writing assignment. A writer has to have a mind that is wiling to be expanded and
be able to think rhetorically while still keeping content and writing skills high. A good writer is almost like a good wine,
theolder it is the better content.
As far as translating my theory into a creative project, I will base my idea on an A+ inspiration paper and a poorly executed
timed test paper.

Proposal
i think my proposal would be how does reading & writing affect in a positive way in your personal life?
in my point of view r&w have a great way of affecting our lifes! first they teach us different things and different ways on doing things. by that we start creating ourselves into better persons and more intelligent.

Revised Proposal
Why does learning has to be enjoyable?
Learning has to be enjoyable in order to feel free for doing things. There has to exist no pressure in learning and things has to be about your own preferences. New things are more interesting!
Example: I will read 20 books or magazines about sports for fun, but if you give 20 magazines of cosmos for a project in class it would be kind of difficult for me.
1. How you're creating it? I am getting focus on personal experiences like things I really like.
2. For who you're creating it? I am creating this theory for people who are not interested in reading so that they can start with something.
3. How it works to get your message(your theory) across? It's simple, my theory is for transmiting enthusiasm for people who doesn't read at all. The message is simple too read whatever you want but READ!

Homework Reminder
Hello Writers! It's a big weekend! We're coming up with our THING! I'm super excited and can't wait to see what you all bring in on Monday! 8B
That being said here'sa quick run down of the homework that's due this weekend:
Due Friday night (1am); posted to your personal blog: Gilliam SQR!
Due Saturday Night(1am); posted to class blog: You revised proposal. We developed our proposals in class and here's what we agreed should go in it( in no particular order, just as long as these are all addressed):
Due Sunday Night(1am); posted to class blog: 1 comment on a peers Proposal. (There's a catch, if someone's already commented on it you can't comment on it! This catch is only good until all proposal's have been commented on. After then you can comment on any one of your choosing. )

Due Saturday Night(1am); posted to class blog: You revised proposal. We developed our proposals in class and here's what we agreed should go in it( in no particular order, just as long as these are all addressed):
- Your question and answer to that question (This is your Theory!)
- An example of what your theory is about taken from your expereince(these are the places you looked at in your genogram that prompted your question. )
- An explanation of the "Thing" your creating, i.e. your project, and how your developing it(that means I want to know 1.How you're creating it, 2. for who you're creating it & 3. how it works to get your message(your theory) across )

- Remember your in you comment you need to: 1. talk about what rocked in your peers proposal, get specific and tell them why it rocked! 2. talk to them about what exactly in their proposal confused you, get specific with it and tell them why that part of their proposal confused you, 3. Give them some advice about how to improve the part that confused you. These comments will be graded on content, so that means really reading your peers work and thinking about what gels, what needs developing and how it can be developed!
Proposal
One proposal about my genogram is that when you are interested in a reading you will be more focus and you will understand better. Like in my case when I read about my favorite soccer team I enjoy to read it
Proposal
How does reading and writing impact your life? Reading and writing impact your life in so many ways hat you cant keep track of all of them, you can make connections with every single detail of your life. I apply it to sports most of the time because i just love playing basketball and soccer. I plan to show how reading and writing play an inormous role in playing the game of basketball.
The proposal
Question
Why do we give different meanings to the same reading or writing?
First of all it depends on the person and on the situation that the person is passing through. Also i think is related to the maturity the person has, the experiences that has lived, the comprehension that the person receives from the reading, the interests and the meaning that the persons wants to give to it.
Example
I have read a few books a couple of times and every time I read it again I receive and understand a complete different meaning. For example, when I was younger I read "The Little Prince" and for me it was a good book due to the images, was related to kids, it was short and I thought I understand it because for me it was only a little prince who was traveling around some worlds but I didn't give it a real meaning. When I read it again I wasn't that interested in the images or even in the little prince, but in the message that the author was trying to tell us and the relation that I could make with my life.
Explanation of the "Thing"
I will make a little poster with some images and clue words that would explain the theory that I'm supporting. What are the factors that influence the meaning that we give to readings and writings? Comprehension or Interpretation?

Proposal
My proposal is how can writting be visual? Me in personaly im a visual person/learner . By looking at my genogram i noticed that i have alot of visual things in it. Their are many ways to share/give a message across not using writing. An example of this it can be a picture. for example i have made several drawings and paintings and avatars i have to choose how i want them to look if its an aggressive look a nice warming or a just cool look i have to chose the colors backgrounds every single detail to make it look how i want it. They say "una photo/imagine vale vale mas que mil palabras" their are manywaysbesides a Photo it can be a drawing painting tagging or just a simple sign/logo. The project I'm thinking off doing is either a Photoshoped image or a drawing. Artist still in this day use their art as a form to give a message across to the people with out saying a word and people can each give their own meaning to what they see.
Proposal
Do standardized test affect in a positive and/or negative way? Does good writing come from an assigment made up by a professor or does it come from ones own inspiration?
Proposal?.
How does learning really happen??
Learning to me needs to be about reality.
Task wasn't real for it had no meaning...
Learning dosent only happen in school.
My connections I found were.. Internet ,cooking, horseback riding, poetry the conectinons on this are that there thing that are real to me .that i can actually relate to my "real" world.. school to me is not that real because i learn stuff im not that intrested in but eventually what i have learned i will get to use in my "real" world..
My thing that im creating is in my laptop ..im using paint to do my genogram=) pertty wierd how i did it but oh well..my theory is learnig not only in school?? im doing it mainly for me to understand my own of learning and how it happens...

Homework Reminder
Alright so it's seems like there isn't too much to do in terms of homework, but in actuality I'm asking for quite a bit! Priority 1: Explode your genogram! What does that mean? Follow those moments of literacy, trace em back! Mine was crazy, yes. Messy, Hell YES! But that crazy messy thing allowed me to see connections becuase it gave me tons to look at! And I don'twann a hear that there's nothing beyond what you wrote down/drew! Think about all the things that go you there and where it went. If music is on your genogram you've got to show me how it got, where it went, how it evovled! Then we get to the fun part! What does that mean about reading/writing/learning? Come up with a question that that connection leads you to and the answer! I know, easier said than done. That's when you'll have to askyourself more questions. If you need help I'll be in and out of my office tomorrow(as well as the STUDIO) track me down and we'll work through it together! ;)
Once you've got your Theory and question start thinking about how you can get that message across, what kind of thing(we had a couple of ideas pop up in class: music, scores, comic strips, videos) will help you best show your theory.
Write it all down in a proposal for me! We discussed breifyly what a proposal was, but we'll return to it in class on Friday! I'm cool with seeing messy proposals, a jab at it, whatever you could think to write in it. Don't worry about the form of a proposal, just think about what it means to propose your idea to me. ;)
now for a broken down list:
First: READ Gilliam. The SQR will be Due Friday.
Second: Explode your genogram! What does that mean? Read above! I want to see the exploded genogram on Friday! I'll be taking pictures of all of them to go into your writing portfolios.
Third: Come up with a question about reading/writing/learning based on yoru experiences(so you'll need to search your genogram for connections and links) and come up with an idea for a project that can get that idea across.
Fourth: Write a proposal for your project idea. Not sure what needs to go in a proposal? Read that giant Paragraph above! I want to see your proposals in class! I will be checking!

Homework Reminder
Hey guys! I'm gla d that I saw so many of you with your genograms in class! :D So keep ing with that here's the homework:
1.)Print out and Read over Project 1. You'll find it on the blog under writing assignments, It's Called Breaking the Ice! :) Bring a list of questions or concerns you may have about the project.
2.)Due Wed. in Class:
1.)Print out and Read over Project 1. You'll find it on the blog under writing assignments, It's Called Breaking the Ice! :) Bring a list of questions or concerns you may have about the project.
2.)Due Wed. in Class:
List possible writing and learning issues you'd like to explore in Project 1. Be sure this list tells us what, when & where, who, and how. Then I'd like you all to draft an introduction/companion piece to your genogram. Make sure you are trying to find ways to connect what you discovered in doing your genogram and reflecting on your writng and literacy practicesto our class readings. You really can write about any aspect of literacy that you'd like so long as you make it clear to your audience (your small group peers and colleagues in the class) how you understand this practice to be in conversation with the issues affecting you as a student in 1301. Experiment with different ways to be persuasive, precise, accurate, etc. Use autobiographical evidence; just be sure you select your material for the richness of the details
3.)Start geading the Sommers aricle (We're skipping Neubert & Mcnellis).
Sommers Group will be presenting on Friday! : ) So start prepping! See you all on Wednesday! We'll start discussing P1, your genograms, and I'll introduce Sommers!
I'll be sending an email later on tonight with the list of those eetingwithme tomorrow and the times you guys set up! :)

"A major limitation of most classroom innovations is that they do not require or motivate teachers or students to go beyond the classroom walls to make instruction work."
This totally reminds me of regular high school instruction all they think about is TASKS and that is all they teach they they don't any thing but the book.
I also attended SCITECH which has very different teaching style and very effective for those that are will to learn. Naturally, teachers there connected their teachings to real world situations and understanding to create a more effective way of learning. TASKs never even came up at all it was never talked about as if it never existed. They were actually teaching therefore students learned the material sub-consciencely as if students actually came to school to learn instead of coming because they have to pass a test to get a diploma.

In such case the task becomes that of " making the familiar strange" in order to observe and document processes that are less salient or "visible" to the "insider".
I like this quote because it's true . Some people might be an expert in that subject but do they really
Understand it. Example there people that give advice but they dnt follow it

"The contrast between the familiar (the classroom) and the unfamiliar (the household), especially when teachers do not live in the community in which they teach, is analog us to an anthropologist entering an unknown community"
What I think this is trying to say is that while teachers are completely aware of what is going on in the class room where they teach, when they enter a new environment then they are like students and must learn to adapt.

"as we review these studies, our focus ill not be on reading and writing processes per se but on how broader classroom conditions can be created that shape what it means to be literate in these settings." to me that says a lot. It's telling me that the teachers want to find a better way to teach thire students and that they are not just focusing on the reading or writing that they want to make sure that there students actually know what they are learning and to me that is important to.
Moll & Gonzalez quote
"The centerpiece of our work is the collaboration with teachers in conducting household research. We start with the assumption that there are important (cultural) resources for teaching in the school's immediate community, but one needs both theory and method, to locate, identify and document this resources." (Moll&Gonzalez pg 158)
What the authors are trying to tell us is that teachers should get involved with students, and they should also teach with methods and theories so students could learn correctly.

These atudies (among several that we could include), cunducted independently in different regions of the United States and with different ethnolinguistic and age groups, highlight both teachers and children as active learners using languages and literacy as tools for inquiry, communication, and thinking.

Certainly, the starting point for the use of funds of knowledge for teaching need not to be the household visits; this connection can also be mediated.( M&G pg. 170)
This means that not only doing the household visits you discover your funds of knowledge but you can do any type of research that involves the search of community resource. This also means that a teacher should not limit only to a classroom but to see that there are many other things that we could connect to our funds of knowledge.

The role of teachers is to enable and guide activities that involve students as thoughful (and literate) learners in socially and academically meaningful tasks. (Moll and Gonzalez pg.158)
