Reflective essay on project 1
My reflective essay is basically about effort and influence. The way that certain people influence you and the amount of effort that you put into it affects anything that you have done, if you really about it there are certin people that make you try new things and teach you how to do them correctly,like your mom or dad they influence you a lot through your life,from when you are a baby till you are all grown up,even after that they still teach things that you didn't know about.for example letsbsay when you where a baby ur mother and father taught you have to crawl and walk and talk to if they wouldnt have influenced you to try or even put effort into trying you wouldn't really want to or try to new things you would jest do nothing.
My nephew is lucky to a my family he has all of the attention he could want and he gets a lot of influence to walk and craw around, but my cousin gets very little attention and he is not getting the influence to do anything he doesn't try to stand he jest sits or lays down my aunt doesn't play with him or pay attention to him. That is something that has to happen with every baby, the have to have people talk to them and play with them every day they can't jest be ignored.my thing for this project was a rubic cube with pictures of some one accomplishing something great, this is supposed to make the person using it feel like they have accomplished something when they have finished with the cube.
It looks like a basic rubric cube but instead of jest having the original colors it will have different pictures of things being accomplished and maybe that will inspire the peson using it to finish it. You have the cube with the pictures but the are all mixed together so you have to try to find out what the picture is by moving the cube to make the picture look like what it is supposed to look like and do that to all six sides, it is challenging but I think it is a rewarding experience, it teaches the person patience and they will feel good when they finish because of all the effort that they put into working on it pays off.
The way I got the idea about making the cube was from my mom she told me to let the baby crawl around and see if he could stand up on his own and when he did to say yay and to clap so he could feel good about what he did,this is encuraing him to try to walk and crawl. For me I think the cube will encourage people to try and finish it and when they do the will feel proud of them selfs for completing it and actually trying and not giving up on it.

New Reflective Essay
How to become a self motivated learner?
My theory is about how to become a self motivated learner and the process sounds like tough but it doesn’t. Learning has to be enjoyable, interesting and it has to catch your attention in order to do better. This theory tries to give every person a single and unique experience of reading and learning. Reading is not awesome for everybody; some people need to be interested in things in order to read. Interests are because our own funds of knowledge that indicates things significant for us. People develop skills through life that help us on the road of learning.
With this theory I want to prove that everybody can learn by themselves if they want to, but the thing is that in order to do this they need catch their attention by something.
To achieve learning, discipline is essential as it allows us to do all things necessary to become a better learner. Without the discipline we would be unable to perform all our tasks in order and on time so the learning would become mediocre. The values we teach our family as responsibility, perseverance, discipline, order and tolerance help us become better learners.
It is very difficult when the subject of something disconcerting that this force by learning to work or school, you understand everything the first time but how to complete the learning is by asking. Questioning is a tool that many not wanting to look bad in front of other people are afraid to do, but tutoring is something we can’t ignore.
Now we get into the dilemma that if only we would learn really what we like we would not have a comprehensive education that will help us in things that are basic and very important. For example if a person who is studying civil engineering just like to learn about construction but does not like to learn about strength of materials but this does not make you a complete professional. So we know that to be a complete engineer you need a motivation that causes us to want to learn things not only because they are necessary if not because they really leave us a valuable education.
The only way to be a self motivated learner is when you want a comprehensive education based on what interests you on what catches your attention and that is important to you, although this includes many things that are not.
In my case, I like to read things that I am interested. Sports news, civil engineer news are two of the things that I spend most of time doing readings and my case is a very well proof of the theory mention above.

Many of us students are faced with standardized timed test that measure and want to determine our intelligence specially in writing and reading categories. Here in Texas, from an early age we are introduced to the TAKS, a timed standardized test. In the future, college applicants are measured with other forms such as the SAT or ACT to prove their skills in reading and writing along with other subjects. Always an essay attached, one never failed to have to sit there trying to come up with a story based on the vague and sometimes limited prompt. Are these good ways to judge someones writing and reading skills? Do timed standardized test measure someones intelligence to its best?-Are standardized test a valid for for measuring how good a writer is, or does thoughtful good writing come from inspiration?
Good writing for me does come from inspiration, when i am asked to write on a topic that does not interest me or does not matter to me; my writing usually reflects that. Without inspiration, a writer lacks the thoughtful and interesting connections that are made from experience into the writing and reading universe.
When I am given a prompt such as : Write about the person who you look up to the most. I am sometimes limited to the writing idea, maybe it’s the time or place; but inspiration may not be there. In the other hand, one could argue that a good writer is able to expand their mind and make the prompt relate to them. A good writer can be able to think rhetorically while still keeping content and writing skills high.
In my project i decided to make it simple and get my point across by simply looking at my idea. I decided to list some points of what a good paper may consist of and what a poor written paper can be made up of, my main focus is the inspiration. So i decided to make prompts that would inspire me and in the contrary not inspire me. This bring up a new idea for my project.
If good writing comes from inspiration, then a good prompt must interest the writer. For me if a prompt has to do anything with politics, worldly matters, or any form of art, that would make a good prompt and inspire me to write a well written paper with thoughtful content.
I made this project, because for me standardized testing has been a huge part of my writing and reading experiences. From an early age i was introduced to the Taks through school. When i would receive my scores, sometimes my written part of the test would be low. I would wonder why, if all through out my english class i had made good grades and whenever we where put to write about what we wanted to, my writing was well thought out. It wasn’t until much later that I realized all these prompts where tedious to me, they didn’t inspire me. Most seemed to be so general and boring to me that i had no motivation to write a well thought out paper. Everyone taking these test got the same prompts, nothing was personalized so it must of been though for many other students as well. Maybe allowing each student to write about what they knew, would of been a much better idea.
This project is mainly target it to the student audience. It’s a representation of what inspires a student to write. For each student inspiration comes from a different source or experience. For someone who is into games and graphics, a prompt on “ the influence of games into the learning environment” might interest them more than for someone who has never picked up a video game in their life. Another example would be for someone who is a sports fanatic, a prompt such as “ how can a playing a sport be experience for a good writer and reader”. For some people, good writing is created when someone is frustrated, for others one must be happy and cheerful. This just comes back to show that inspiration is very hard to captivate and truly show for each person. Since we are all different types of learners and mainly influenced by different experiences, which build our own inspirations.

Reflection
My theory is that reading and writing has to be encouraged at a young age but not forced. When I was a kid I was encouraged to read and write by my aunt, she always tried to make it fun and the rest of my family always showed some sort of pride that kept me going.

REFLECTIVE ESSAY 1: Alan Guajardo
School is a place where we should be developing our own abilities of learning, it could be in different ways, for example in school we have a lot of teachers and it does not mean that we should learn everything from them, we can also learn from our classmates or from our tutors, it could be for so many different reasons, for example some students do not learn from teachers because students think that they are boring, that is why they decide to learn from a tutor or from a friend this could be because friends make the things interesting for us.
In class we can communicate with our teachers, classmates and tutors but who is the person who can help you the most, in class when we are in groups we can learn from each other, but it could be easier to be a part of a team instead of a group, in groups we just do what we need to do, and sometimes some of our group mates do not know what to do, that is why groups would work more as teams, because in teams we work with the help of each other, for example in teams when a player is closer to the goal, he should be able to score, this is something that we should be able to do in our groups, for example when the teacher ask for something the group should be able to talk about the question, and if some of the group members does not know anything about the subject their groups mates should be able to teach them and that way they could also learn from their friends, this is how a group should helping each other, because sometimes teachers are not able to teach some students, and this can also happen with the tutors.
In school there are a lot of cases that students learn in a different way for example they learn from tutors this is because tutors have different methods of teaching and because they need to learn it for the same reason, for example tutors have to learn because they are students too and have an understand of how students learn, this can be a teamwork activity too, for example tutors can be part of a team too, for example tutors can be the experimented players and that way they can teach the beginners.
Family can also become part of our team, in my case I always think about my family and about what they have been teaching me, when I was little my mom used to teach how to read and write, because she was a teacher, also my family want be to be like them so that is why they are my role models, also my cosign has become one of the bust important persons for me, this is because he has been helping me , and I want to be as good as he is in school, and in everything else because if we are good in school we can be good in everything else, so I can say he is one of my coaches, and that is why I want to be as important as my family.
Teamwork is an important activity that everyone needs to have in their lives; I think this is a good method of learning because every person can do everything better with the help of their friends and family, and also we can learn from them just with their presence.

Reflective Essay
What I’m doing in my project or my thing is like to demonstrate how writings impacts our personal life? Our feelings and life experiences things that we’ve gone thru changes the way we write. What im trying to do is to show how when you write a paper when u feel depressed or happy it has more umm feelings and is more interesting. Than when u write an sqr or something forced to write, well ofcourse if it doesn’t interest you obviously you’ll just write whatever because u don’t feel what ur writing about. For me to write a good paper it was to be when im feeling very emotional. I love writing poems that is one of my hobbies and I enjoy it a lot. Because from things that we think don’t have a good significance I can make it have an awesome significance. That’s why I write poems, also that way if a felt sad after writing it I feel much better because I expressed myself into paper. That is where I get out something from writing. But when I write and sqr its just like read read read and write write, sort of like a robot. And eventually u don’t get something out of it because u don’t like it or not interested. In others words I don’t connect to sqrs or school readings. Sooo! What im trying to show is bring a print out of a poem ive written and on the side an sqr. That way I can show how much feeling a poem has and has more sense. And an sqr is I really don’t get nothing out of that and its just academic writing what teachers ask and that’s it. And comparing them both you see how you connect to writing from when ur emotional than to writing sqrs.

Reflection
I am disappointed with my effort so far but I will try harder from now on.I think I am going to change my idea and do something else.
Reflective Essay
How did my reading experience influenced my students when I was teaching first grade? Teaching is about engaging students or keeping your students interested. So if you like reading you will transmit that to your classmates in a way they will feel engaged with what they reading. when I was teaching first grade 4 months ago, I would use the adequate voice intonation and act out the reading for them, as u know children from 5 to 7 years will definitely feel interested in things like that.In that way that would help them to understand what was going on in the story and would comprehend better. The reading books they have help alot because these are books that have many pictures so that works best for children in that age. Also, we used Story Cards which are cards that have only the pictures of the events of the story and we would developed a conversation based on the pictures, kind of like a summary based on pictures so that they would get involved with the characters and all the events.
What we often did in class was like bring to life the characters of the story. One time we were reading about animals in the jungle so for homework they had to bring to class a mask of any animal of the story, so next they when we began reading i would make them make the sound of the animal they were representing. In that way they really felt excited about the story. There was this other time when I was talking to the parents in a teacher-parent session and I was telling the parents they need to encourage their children to read at home, because we will have exams every week to check the fluency of the student. So one parent told me "Oh yes my son is always telling me to buy new books because he says his teacher told him he needs to read books at home, and I think that is good that you as teacher motivate our children to read more". I really felt like I was accomplishing my goal because children will always do what their teacher tell them to do. So if I will pressure them to read more at home they will do so, because when they are at that age they really respect the teacher and they feel like the teacher is a really important person in their lives.
I had in my class a really smart kid that he would immediately understand what the story was about and he once came next to my desk and asked” Ms. Do you have to read all the books from school to explain the topics to us? And I answered “Yes I have to do a lot of reading” and then he said back “ Ms. So that means you really like reading, just like me!” I felt he really felt identified with me and that was like an inspiration for him to continue reading.
So why did I present a class plan as my "thing" well to demonstrate the different activities we as teachers do to keep students engaged with what they read. We need to find a way to get students to like what they are doing in class and not to feel bored, because if that happens we fail as teachers. So it is really challenging to do that because not all of them are interested in the same things or some like to do things in a different way than others, etc. So this is my project which shows that your experience of reading can affect/ influence others because in that age specially first graders you can start building their reading attraction.

In my project im going to porve how we learn throught experience and also make my class mates expierce my point. im going to bring my accordion and play intros of songs (romantic/boleros, storries/corridos, and break up or downer songs) by playing music they dont know they will get a message accross by the rythim. for me an exapmle of that is when i started to listening to vallenato music or simply music from other places sometimes i dont know what they say but by the rythim i know if its a romantic song or not. when i play the intros of songs they are not going to know whats the song about but by the rythim they will now what type of song it is because they probably heard other romantic songs so by experiencing it before they will know what the song should be about. music is also another type of writting and reading like i mentioned we read the melody and lyircs and when we make a song or create the lyrics and rythim we are writting also another type of writting and music is a universal way of gettig messages across and not all writting is textual.given some of my personal expiriences and like i mention above we learn through experience and expeirncing things as a child we didnt know if some things we did were good or bad but our perents new and would spank us ur hut us in the hand so we would do it agian, im going to list and say several experiences and expamples. when i was like around like 13 i had a ps2 that i played liek 24/7 in summer and one summer with my grandma in mexico i was plaing and saw that it had alot of dust inside so i desided to open it up and clean it. well the essay part was taking it apart but the hard part was putting it back i had torn a cable that gave teh power or somthing like that and i had to go take it to some one to fix it. my p1arents found out i had broken it till the day it was ready they went with me to go pick it up and told me not to do that agian and to speak the truth to them so i leand not to mess around with things liek that and to say the truth to them. i also learned through experience when i was 4 my grnadfather teached me how to swim he gave en example on what to do and then help me do it by my self untill i got it i wouldnt of have learned by reading it txtual i would have been harder for me and probably would of done something wrong.i play/played the guitar and accoridon i had 2 ways of learning its either txtual or visual i would play the inturemts by reading the tabs it would tell me what cord or where to put my fingers and compared to a video tutorrial it would show you where to put it and get to se if ur doing it right and 1sounding right and also you would get the rythim out of it and you experience and if you do how it says ur doing it right. we can apply this theory to classrooms/class for example in most classes we take more than one test. when we take the first test and learn that we didnt do so well so when we se our scores we se how bad or good they are and that experience will shapes us in our learing/studying in the class and will make us work harder for a better score and teachers will help students learn but after all it all comes down to the student wether to create a new learning experience. I think teachers should create an eviroment where they are familiar with so they can create or reviese their learning experinces.

How does learning really happen?, Learning dosnt only happen in school?.learning has to be real for me. what bi mean about beign real is that i can acually be intrested in it or do something i feel i can relax .One example i think was useless in grade school ,middle school,and high school."TAKS" was so un real to me, i mean itwas something i thought was so boring not intresting . i didnt show me anything about writing or reading. When i have to learn something unreal to me,i do feel overwhelmed and boring because its something that i think in the long run is useless.The reason why i say its usless because i mention the TAKS before i mean this test has been in my education for a long time but has it help in anything no beacuse i mean if it would of helped i would be an expert in taking test. and thats not what happen i mean i took the ACT and didnt meet the minumum requierment just by one point.
The persons that showed me about reading and writing were my parents and other people. The first real thing i can remeber is when i was 5 my dad thought me how to horse back ride i remeber him saying pay attention to the way the heart beat of the horse,it will tell tell you how the horse feel??
maybe for me what learned is because i can actually relate to it.i love to write poetry because its what i feel and understand more clearly,many teachers if they ever get to read this they will disagree with me ,or maybe some will agree with me,because in oreder for people to understand eachother they must go to the next level.like actually get to know eachother.
Inernet to me seems really really real i mean everything rite now is revovling around the inernet .jobs ,school work,social network.. my Favroite Face book=) its all real to me beacuse its people my age people that i can relate and just talk nosense and not get judge. What i learn from the inernet is universal,beacuse i mean you learn how to become social and its showing us how to prepare for the future.What am going to do for my audience to understand my theory is am goin to do a video of piks that have thougt me through life and take piks of my friends that have showed them how to learn outside of school.so i am goin to put a universal song that has to do with my piks and other funn stuff=) .The expirence in my life have taught me how to surivive in this harsh society. I mean alot of teachers have made a big impact in my life because they actually cared for their students they actually try to relate their chilhood with ours. That shows me that the real world can be a big teacher to us and everyone who know and realize that it actually works and its helpfull.

In my project, I put two images, the first one it's a girl representing me when I was in elementary school and the second it's a young woman that represents me in this moment. I also put a little text explaining the difference between comprehension and interpretation. With this I want to explain that when we were younger we used to focus more on comprehension and now we get the chance to interpretate the things that we read.
I also made a box named "The Little Prince" and inside the box I put some images of the Little Prince, some were in color and in different sizes and the others were in black and white and the last one had nothing. I used this little box to help me explain my theory like if the box was the book and the images the meaning that we get from the reading. For example every time you open a book (in this case the box) you will get a different meaning (in this case the images), or sometimes you won't get nothing at all, thats why I put the white paper and this mainly occurs because you are only reading because you have to do it and you are not interested in reading it.
My project it's for college and high school students because now we get the opportunity to give the reading our own meaning, depending not only in the real meaning of the book or the thing we are reading but in what we understand.

Reading and writing is a gateway into someone else's life. If you can read and understand where the person is coming from and know exactly why they decided to word their text the way they did, you will be able to make a connection with them and put yourself in their shoes. I think that is what a good writer is, a person who can word something and make such a huge impact on a large audience. Whether it being a sad or happy type of connection. Where the reader will be able to say, "This person is just like me." or "I've gone through the exact same thing." You don't have to use the most advanced wording either, just as long as the reader can relate to the text, it will make a difference in how they understand. Why do I find reading, music and cooking as a way of giving meaning to a text?
Because meaning is the soul of those things. For example in reading, while you read you give your own meaning to the lecture or text, just like when you are reading a book, if a book is talking about cats and it doesn't tell you what color they are, you are going to create your own image of it, you are going to create a meaning for it.
My theory is everything is about meaning and content. What I am trying to prove is that everything is interesting when you give a chance to meaning and content to accomplish their work.
My project is going to be something related to my theory and my question, but I am not quite sure about how I want it to look like.

Reading and writing are a visual experience the words are like eye candy if their not interesting then people don't want to read them. I feel that pictures aren't always the best to put into a book or article, just depends if the author wants the readers to see what he/she sees then i feel a picture could be good because we don't all think the same.
The "thing" that I am creating is to make my project into a book. More like those children's books with the thick cardboard type pages. I would like it to be short and to the point kinda like the way i think reading should be. I'm trying to make it sort of unique with small words and blank areas for the reader to fill in pictures or to just doodle. On the cover I was going to put one of the etchesketch type things with the magnet pen to draw or idk. Im not to sure of how i am going to do it.

Why was it so much easier for me to read school related material when I was a kid?
I think it was easier because I was always encouraged to do so, and everyone was always proud of me because I was "smart" and I could read and write better than other kids.
