What I think this is trying to say is that while teachers are completely aware of what is going on in the class room where they teach, when they enter a new environment then they are like students and must learn to adapt.
I think this is just comparing a teacher to an anthropologist, when the teacher teaches in community in which they do not live in they cant relate to the students. Just like an anthropologist wouldn't be aware of surroundings in a different area then they usually work around.
ReplyDeleteI feel like this means that the teacher has no way of relating to their students when they can not familiarize themselves with them. They have no way of understanding them if they do not know them past what they see in the class room.
