What kind of connections csan you make between reading and writing, and your personal life?
while making a connection it doesnt necesarily mean with a pencil and paper, it can also mean things you see or do(sports/activities), i plan on using myself as an example and showing how basketball is a form of reading and writing, and hopefully you can relate to things you do.
i dont quite know how i am going to demonstrate my example, but i am working on it..
glad to hear you're working on it! I think you're off to a really good start! I'm a little confused by your question... are you concerend about reading and writing and it's connection to your personal life or other forms of reading and writing you've found yourself doing that aren't really "traditional" forms is the usual sense.
ReplyDeleteBasketball I would say is not a traditional form of reading/writing, but we've explored that together and found that many of the same activities we would normally do with reading and writing are also done while playing such an intensive sport like basketball. It doesnt only ask for you to be physically able but mentally cabapable too or am I wrong? Can someone mindlessly play a game of basketball?
You may want to tease out the connections between reading/writing (you have a wealth of info to draw from already. think about our readings! D&W and H&F!) and then compare that to basketball maybe? Thena sk yourself the harder questions after comparison: if they are indeed similiar in terms of what they ask a player(reader/writer) to do, why is that you find yoruself far more invovled with basketball than with reading/writing in the traditional sense?
What does one do for you that the other doesnt, and what does that mean abotu how we approach reading and writing?
As for your project...I dunno. Who would benefit the most from your theory? Freshman? entering students? Basketball players who can't seem to get into reading/writing? :O? You've got some really smart, really insightful theoritical work going on, who could gainthe most from it?
Once you've figured that out it may be easier for you to figure out your medium, that is, the thing it is you want to create! What's appealing to an entering freshman is vastly diffrent than what is appealing to a basketball player who isn't keen on reading/writing, don't you think?
I appreciate all your comments and concerns, but at times al the questions can be over whelming and cause me to break down and think I have no clue of what I am doing. But once I stop nd think I do think that it would be best if I intend my project for basketball players who are not really into reading and writing.
