How has reading and writing helped me relate to my peers?

Reading and writing is a gateway into someone else's life. If you can read and understand where the person is coming from and know exactly why they decided to word their text the way they did, you will be able to make a connection with them and put yourself in their shoes. I think that is what a good writer is, a person who can word something and make such a huge impact on a large audience. Whether it being a sad or happy type of connection. Where the reader will be able to say, "This person is just like me." or "I've gone through the exact same thing." You don't have to use the most advanced wording either, just as long as the reader can relate to the text, it will make a difference in how they understand. I also relate this to a song writer, the lyrics can be about something completely different than the listener thinks but as long as they can relate to a certain situation, it will impact on the listener thinking it is a song meant for them.
